1. Pick up your number on time. The race office is open also already on Friday 12-8 PM. By getting your number already then, you can concentrate on fulfilling your aim for the marathon.
2. Make sure you are able to get to the start line on time. Check the bus or train connections and time tables.
3. Pack your race bags carefully. Make sure your running clothes, socks, talcum powder and/or lubricate for your toes, shoes, hat or equal, water or other drink, running number, toilet paper, energy gel and spare shoe laces are in the bag. Race number can be attached to your running shirt already on the evening before.
4. Make sure you will arrive to the race area on time. Prepare for the run calmly and stay in the shadow if it is sunny. If it is raining, stay inside or under rain cover. Make sure you will have enough time to go to the toilets and take your equipment and valuables to the storage.
5. Attach your energy gel on time before the start with, for example, safety-pin to your shorts to the waist area.
6. Go to the toilet on time. Check the locations of the toilets along the route from the course map. If needed, take toilet paper with you to the route.
7. Take your valuables, if any, to the storage on good time before the start.
8. To prevent traction, use talcum powder or Vaseline to lubricate your feet. Also use Vaseline for your nipples and groins. Protect your skin from the sun with sun lotion if needed.
9. Use the shoes that you have used before and know that are good. Also do some warm up before the race with these shoes. Tie your shoe laces with double knot. Make sure you have clean and thin enough socks to reduce the risk of getting blisters. ATTACH THE TIMING CHIP TO YOUR RUNNING SHOE PROPERLY.
10. Do not overdress yourself even if it is a cool weather, because it will get warmer for you when you start running. Remember, however, to take enough spare clothing to change to after the race.
11. When on the start line, concentrate only on your performance and remember to enjoy the atmosphere. If you have made a schedule for your run, keep with that, and at the same time prevent the over-enthusiasm of the first meters that could affect negatively to your overall run.
We wish you a pleasant and successful run!
